I survived my half marathon, friends! I'm happy to report that the first eight miles went swimmingly. The next five point one, however, were rough. I got blisters in between my toes on the bottom of my foot. That was a first. The clouds decided to dissipate for the last three miles resulting in a sunburned face and a very warm 5k around Lake Merritt. I finished in 2:06, which is only about six minutes slower than my PR. The first eight or so were all under 9-minute miles, but then I lost steam and turtled my way to the finish line. I double fisted with champagne afterward though, so all's well. The rest of the weekend was spent eating things like vegan ice cream cones and epic taco salads and drooling over succulents.
